For many of us, lag putting is difficult and frustrating.
But here’s some valuable advice from Rich Unger, Director of Golf Operations at Heritage Isles and a PGA Professional:
Some simple drills will help you get the right feel and help you 2-putt from almost any distance.
Before your next round, stand about 40 feet away from the hole and try rolling three balls underhand with your dominant hand. Try to roll them as close as possible to the hole. Keep doing this until you can get all three balls within two feet of the hole.
Once you have done this, use only your dominant hand on the putter from the same distance and try to get the same feeling as if you were rolling it with that same hand.
Once you have all three balls within two feet of the hole, place your other hand on the club and continue to practice.
This can be done from any distance and it’s sure to help you get that first putt close enough for the gimmie.
